It is with great sadness and a lifetime of memories that the Petty family announces that Murphy Petty, of Dallas Georgia, at the age of 91, has passed from this temporary home called Earth to the gift of eternity with his Savior and Lord, Jesus.
Murphy was born on Sunday, December 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia and was a resident of Georgia his whole life. Murphy attended Cobb as well as Atlanta City Schools and was drafted and served in the United States Army in Korea. Murphy spent his whole life belonging, pastoring, worshipping, and serving in many local churches around Georgia including Burnt Hickory Baptist. Murphy Petty will be forever remembered as a humble servant of King Jesus and his family, a faithful husband, a model father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and an example to all of a true disciple of Jesus.
Murphy is preceded in death by his wife of 72 years Dot Petty, his parents Murphy and Gladys Petty, and his grandson Eric Petty. He is survived by his son David Petty (Freida), grandson Matt Petty (Melissa), and great-grandsons Blake and Dalton Petty.
An outdoor graveside memorial service will honor Murphy Petty on Monday, June 14th. Family will receive friends at 10:30AM with service to follow at 11:00AM at Mozley Memorial in Lithia Springs, Ga.
