Morgan Tyree Martin

July 9, 1995 — July 23, 2023

On July 9, 1995 in Hampton, Virginia God blessed Derick and Kimberly Martin with a handsome baby boy. They named him Morgan Tyree Martin. Being from a military family, Morgan spent the majority of his toddler years either in Virginia or San Diego, CA. After leaving the service, the family relocated to Georgia and eventually settled in Marietta.

Morgan was baptized by the late Rev. Kenneth E. Marcus, the Pastor of Turner Chapel AME in Marietta, GA. As a gifted student and talented athlete, Morgan attended a STEM program at the University of Houston called Houston Prep for three consecutive years. While in Houston, Morgan had the opportunity to train with Legendary NBA Coach John Lucas. One of Morgan's most fulfilling experiences at a young age was when he was invited to attend the John Lucas Top 150 invitational in Louisville, KY.

In high school, Morgan participated in both Basketball and Football at Hillgrove High School. He was a former member of the National Honor Society, Science and Technology club, Future Business Leaders of America and Fellowship of Christians. Additionally, he volunteered at the Atlanta Food Bank and MUST Ministries.

After graduating from high school, Morgan was accepted to some of the top universities around the country but chose the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) for their Biomedical Engineering program. After a few years in the program, he changed his major to Computer Information Systems (CIS). Morgan participated in intramural sports while at UAB, forming his own basketball team. He was a member of the Blazer Male Excellence Network (BMEN). He also completed internships with Mercedes Benz and the Regions Bank corporate office while in college in their prospective IT departments. Morgan graduated from UAB in 2018 with a 3.3 GPA. Morgan worked as a consultant for several Birmingham area companies such as Children's Hospital, Hibbett Sports Corporate Office, Central Square Technologies, etc.

Morgan Tyree Martin passed away at the age of 28 in Birmingham, AL on Sunday, July 23, 2023.
