Milton William Ivie, Jr., age 77, of Powder Springs passed away on Monday, August 11, 2014. Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, August 15 at Macland Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Walker and Dr. Scotty Davis officiating. Mr. Ivie will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park.
Milton was born in Atlanta and a proud alumni of West Fulton High School. He moved to Cobb County with his bride, Betty Ivie, when they married in 1957. He became a part of the electrical industry in 1959 and owned and operated United Power. He loved his job and the people he met along the way. He personally assisted with the installation of the first underground electrical line in Georgia. He trained crews throughout the state, earning him the unofficial title of “Mr. Underground.” Milton has been a faithful member of Macland Baptist Church for 42 years, a member of the choir and just returned to the Active Deacon Board. He loved singing in gospel quartets, flying as an amateur pilot, hunting, boating, golf, woodworking and waterskiing. Milton was employed at West Cobb Funeral Home as a faithful greeter at our front door.
Milton is preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Betty and is survived by his daughters: Donna (Greg) Ocheltree of Dallas; Suzanne (Dennis) Willis of Acworth; 1 brother, Harlan (Barbara) Ivie of St. Simons Island; 3 grandchildren: Kyle (Catherine) Smith of Cartersville, Pearson Ocheltree of Dallas, Jayson(Megan) Willis of Acworth and 2 great-grandchildren on the way.
