Maureen Haaland age 81 of Powder Springs, GA formerly of Lake Martin, AL and Oak Ridge, TN. died at her home 6/19/12. Mrs. Haaland was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carsten Meyer Haaland in December 2010; her late parents, Margaret Spratling Erskine and General Graves B. Erskine and her sister, Margaret Hays. Survivors include sister, Bonnie Graves Eskine Daughtry; son, John Christian Lammers (Donna), daughters, Lea Grier (Gregory) and Seana Lammers; Kirk Haaland (Ellie), Peter Haaland (Audra), and Tina Haaland; niece, Bonnie Daughtry Barraza; nephews, Michael Daughtry and Patrick Daughtry and fifteen grandchildren. Mrs. Haaland Attended LSU and St. Joseph University of Maryland. She was a member of the US Marine Corps and US Navy. She was a Registered Nurse at Oak Ridge Hospital for several years until her retirement. Mrs. Haaland was a member of St.Theresa Catholic Church of Douglasville, GA. Mrs. Haaland was an avid reader and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Her other hobbies include sewing, creating stained glass panels and flower gardening. She had a wonderful flair for decorating and a great sense of humor and style. Memorial Service for Mrs. Haaland will be held, 2:00 PM Friday, June 29, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marietta, GA followed by a get together at her residence. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Heifer International www.heiferinternational.com . West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, GA is handling the arrangements.
