Matthew James Dodge Sr.

Matthew (Matt) James Dodge, Sr, 66, died May 11, 2022 in his Cumming, GA home with his family by his side. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Marietta, GA. He was predeceased by his daughter Amanda Nicole Dodge.

Matt was born September 1, 1955 in Lockport, NY to Edward S. and M. Patricia Dodge. He graduated from Royalton-Hartland High School in 1973, where he was VP of his senior class and enjoyed many aspects of his high school, including being part of musicals and choir. He received a bachelors degree in education from the State University of New York College at Oneonta in 1977. Matt began his teaching career in Houston, Texas where he met his wife, Suzanne. He then enjoyed a 17 year career with Toys R Us as an Inventory Control Manager, finally retiring from Sony Mobile after 8 years. Matt was a kind and loving father who put his family first. He enjoyed reading (his favorite pastime), loved nature, our National Parks, and chasing waterfalls.

Survived by his wife of 43 years: Suzanna Veronica Dodge; his children: Matthew J. (Ashley) Dodge, Jr, Jeffrey M. (Tori) Dodge, Travis A. Dodge, Wesley B. Dodge, Austin N. (Hilary) Dodge, Colleen N. Dodge; his siblings: Margaret (Harold) Allen, Mary (Mike) Cooley, Edward (Julie) Dodge, Daniel (Robin) Dodge; and seven grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, GA.
