Mary “Macy” H. King, age 82, went home into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 14, 2018.
Macy was born March 9, 1935 in Calhoun, Gordon County, Georgia and was the daughter of the late Claude M. and Nettie Mary Reeves Henderson. She graduated from Powder Springs, Georgia High School, Class of 1952.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and all of her life was a blessing to all who were fortunate to know her.
Macy grew up on a dairy farm. While still young, her parents purchased a large dairy farm in Cobb County, Georgia.
During her high school years, her classmates nicknamed her Macy, a name that she would be known her entire life. Macy married H. Doyle King in 1958 and they had a long loving marriage for 59 years, which was faith based and God loving all those years. The same year of their marriage, Doyle began his long career with Royal Dutch Shell Oil Company. During the next thirty-five years, Macy was the strength of her marriage, managing the home, while moving and traveling with Doyle. She was instrumental in talking her parents into building a golf course on their property, which she named Dogwood Golf and Country Club. It stayed in the family for over forty years before they decided to sell it.
During her traveling with Doyle, she never forgot her trip to Monterey Peninsula and playing Pebble Beach Golf Club with Doyle and his customers.
They were transferred to Greenville, South Carolina in 1977 and joined Holly Tree Golf and Country Club and have enjoyed playing golf and bridge with friends over the years. Macy won the Holly Tree Ladies Golf Championship Tournament in 2002.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, H. Doyle King of 59 years, are two sons: Stanton King of Simpsonville and Michael Brady of Acworth, Georgia; four grandchildren: Heather King of Fountain Inn, SC, Summer King, of Greenville, SC, Jonathan and David Brady of Acworth, Georgia; four great grandchildren; three sisters: Carolyn Manning of Whitesburg, Georgia, Elsie Sosebee of Dallas, Georgia, Jane McCroskey of Tallapoosa, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
