Marlon Joel Melendez

Marlon Joel Melendez, age 21, of Acworth passed away May 15, 2015. Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm on Friday May 22, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marietta (see below for dress attire). A reception will immediately follow in Marist Hall at the church. The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 21 from 5 until 8 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta (see below for dress attire). From 7:30 – 8 pm, in the Chapel, there will be a time of reflection where family and friends will be eulogizing Marlon.



Marlon and his family have lived in Georgia most of his life. He played JV and Varsity Baseball at Allatoona High School from 2009 – 2012, where he later coached Varsity and JV Fall Baseball. During the 2011 season his batting average had reached .619 and led all Cobb County High Schools. Marlon also received a Baseball Scholarship to Calhoun Community College during his Senior Year. He passionately followed all the local sports teams, especially the Atlanta Braves. He was currently enrolled at Georgia Highlands College studying for a marketing degree.



Marlon is survived by his mother, Lisa Neri and stepfather, Santino Neri of Acworth; father, Edgar Melendez of Cobb County; his sister, Camille Melendez of Acworth; maternal grandparents: John and Maria Rodriguez and paternal grandmother, Andrea Rodriguez; his girlfriend, Shannan Danz of Kennesaw and a host of loving extended family. Marlon’s beautiful smile and his contagious joy for life will be greatly missed.
