Marion Talley King passed peacefully May 12, 2020 by his family after a short battle of liver cancer.
Marion was born October 15, 1943 at the Old Marietta City Hospital on Cherokee Street. He graduated from Robert L. Osborne High School in 1961. He then worked for Lockheed Georgia until being drafted into the U.S. Army where he served his country from 1966-1968. After serving his country he returned to work at Lockheed. He continued his education graduating from Kennesaw Jr. College and then graduating from Georgia State University receiving a bachelors degree in accounting. He retired from Lockheed Martin in 2009.
He was survived by his wife of 58 years, Libby Gray King; son, Marion Todd King and his wife Lynn; two grandchildren, Marion Seth King and Karlie Ann King; sisters, Betty Freeman and Joyce Michael; brother and sister in law, Jerry and Barbara George; sister in law, Wanda Gray; the very best of nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was a member of Milford Baptist Church for 59 years and Burnt Hickory Baptist Church for 16 years. He was ordained as a deacon at the age of 25 by his uncle, Dr. Marion Beaver.
He was a godly man who loved his family. He enjoyed watching the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves and hunting with his friends, Mitch, Earl, Morris, his son and grandson. He lived every day loving his Lord. He showed his family, friends and strangers what it looked like to live in Christ. He will be deeply missed.
Private family funeral services will held Thursday, May 14, 2020. Burial will be at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Burnt Hickory Baptist Church Building Fund, 5145 Due West Rd. Powder Springs, GA 30127. An online guest book is available at
