Marie Ophelia Edwards

Marie Ophelia McNenney Edwards, age 102, of Marietta was called home by her Lord and savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, June 13, 2018. Funeral Service will be held 12:00pm on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, GA with Dr. William Camp officiating. Interment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park in Atlanta, Georgia. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Aubrey A. Edwards in 1988, a son Robert E. Edwards in 2010 and all of her siblings.

Mrs. Edwards was a native of Velasco, Cuba and lived most of her life in Sandy Springs, GA before moving to Marietta in 2000. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Atlanta for 46 years and later joined Roswell Street Baptist Marietta where she made many new friends. Ophelia was primarily a homemaker, but later worked several years as a bookkeeper for Locatell-Deckbar Architects. She most recently resided at Del Mar Gardens of Smyrna, GA. She was one of ten siblings (four brothers and six sisters). She graduated from Hillsborough Hill School in Tampa, FL in 1935 and married Aubrey A. Edwards in 1938. In 1942 she became a naturalized citizen.

Survivors include: her son, Thomas A. (Marcia) Edwards, granddaughters Derelle E. (David) Schaefer, Janelle E. (Randy) Arnett, great-grandchildren Megan D. (Bet) Davis, Grant Medlock, Nicolas D. Nelson, Mia Rose Nelson and great-great-grandson Jaxon Davis.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 16, 2018 from 11:00am until 12:00pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, GA.
