July 15, 1955 — October 16, 2019

Marie Calandre, age 64, of Carrollton, Georgia passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019. She is preceded in death by her mother Ilosane Calandre, father Gabriel Calandre, grandmother Venelie Ledoux, two stillborn children, some cousins, aunts, uncles, etc.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Mount Paran Church in Atlanta, with an open casket from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park in Marietta and the family will receive friends and families for a reception afterwards.
Marie Calandre, Zione for many was born on July 15, 1955. In 1979, she married Max Espiegle and they have enough children to make a soccer team! Besides, who would have such a beautiful wife and not make sure she leaves enough children to make a nation!
She had a great heart for business, and helping others was one of her top priorities. In 1986, she went back to school to pursue one of her dreams, by becoming a seamstress. With so many children to send to school, she was determined to be the one that sews their uniforms. She was a provider to many in and around her hometown. Her house was always full of children and young adults that need a place to stay; whether it was to stay for the week while going to school, stay for the night, or simply to change into uniform before heading to school. Her house was always the place for others to get a meal and/or a cold glass of water after walking for a long time.
She was also a coach, believe it or not. She helped so many become more independent by teaching them how to do business. "Map vann ou epi lè ou fini wa peyem" (I will sell to you and you can pay me when you're sold out). Above all, Marie was a devoted Christian. She was very involved in her church. She was the deaconess and secretary for her hometown church, Église Pentecote de Belladère and Zion Church; she was a missionary by heart, worship leader, etc.
Although Marie was always expecting a child between 1980 to 1997, she always found ways to keep busy. She even opened her own school in 1989 to allow children with less fortunate parents (orphans) to receive an education. She moved to the United States in 2009 and she started working in Pilgrim’s in 2010 until her sickness and eventual passing in late 2019.
A native of Haiti, Mrs. Calandre worked for Pilgrim's Pride in Carrollton, GA. She was a member of Mount Zion Church of Douglasville, GA.
