Marianne Pederson, 77, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2022, in Georgia. Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Transfiguration Catholic Church in Marietta, Georgia. Interment will held at a later date at Angelus Memorial Park Cemetery in Anchorage, Alaska.
Marianne was born to Marian (Ward) and Walter Parker on January 7, 1945. First and foremost, Marianne was a dedicated wife of almost 50 years to her beloved husband, Steve, who passed in September 2015. They had many years together raising children, loving their grandchildren, visiting family, taking lots of photographs, and enjoying the mountains and beaches across the United States. Steve's death affected Marianne greatly and, while she continued to enjoy happy times with her family, in a sense she was lost without the love of her life. Marianne was an incredible mom and grandma, loved to laugh with her sisters, take walks to look at flowers and birds, and sit on the beach, took thousands of pictures of family and an equal amount of landscapes, kept a very tidy house, and made great dinners and desserts. Marianne was a kind, gentle, and generous person. She graduated from St. Pascal Baylon High School in Jamaica, New York and attended nursing school in Queens, New York until getting married on November 27, 1965. They lived on Long Island, where their three sons and daughter were born. The Pederson family moved to Cary, North Carolina in 1980, and to Marietta, Georgia, in 1984. Marianne and Steve also lived in the Bay Area, northern Virginia, Denver, and Long Island before returning to Marietta.
Marianne is survived by son, Steven (Noriko) of Marietta; son, John (Tiffani) of Marietta; son, George (Julie) of Anchorage, AK; daughter, Jennifer (Jeffrey) Pederson Weinberger of Anchorage, AK; and eleven grandchildren: Aya, John (Ana), Kaci, Graci, Maci, Jacob, Marilynn, Elijah, Will, Kate, and Cara. Marianne leaves behind her younger sisters Jeanne Biggins, Angela Pote, Elizabeth McClellan, and Lorie Parker, as well as their partners, nephews, nieces, and extended family, as well as a best friend in Barbara Pearson. Marianne was predeceased by her husband, Steve, and mother, Marian. Marianne will be deeply missed by all people who knew her.
We want to thank her wonderful caregivers and the team at Hearthstone at Presbyterian Village who helped her during her battle with Alzheimer's disease.
The family will receive friends on Friday, December 2, 2022 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, Georgia.
