Manuel John Marshall Retired United States Navy

Manuel John Marshall (Sonny) passed away on January 10, 2021 after a lengthy illness of cardiac conditions. He was born in Boston, Mass. on November 30, 1938. He was preceded in death by his sister, Dolores Campo and his brother Richard Spencer Marshall and both of his parents, Jack Marshall and Alice Marshall. He is survived by his spouse of 61 years, Shirley A. Marshall.

Mr. Marshall was a veteran of 24 years of service in the U.S. Navy which sent he and Shirley to many parts of the U.S. After his retirement from the Navy, he was employed by Lockheed Aircraft for 17 years.
His passion was fly fishing and was a member of the Cohutta Chapter of Trout Unlimited. He also was a member of the Atlanta Fly Fishing Organization. He was a long-standing member of the Marietta Elks Lodge #1657 as well as the American Legion. Sonny was well liked and respected by his many friends.

Mr. Marshall was cremated and his burial services are being handled by West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory. For those wishing to go in the procession to the cemetery, please be at West Cobb Funeral Home by 11:30am. Mr. Marshall will be buried at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA with full military honors on August 13, 2021 at 1pm. There will be a reception to follow burial at the Elks Lodge #1657 at 1706 Powder Springs Rd SW, Marietta, GA 30064.
