Mahlon Edward “Monkey” Thornton, age 16, of Marietta, GA died from injuries received from an auto accident, Monday, June 19, 2017. Funeral Services will be held 3pm Saturday, June 24, 2017 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Rev. Richard Hill and Rev. David Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 1pm until 3pm prior to the service. A reception will immediately follow the ceremony at the funeral home pavilion. AT THE REQUEST OF THE FAMILY, PLEASE COME IN CASUAL ATTIRE. Mahlon was employed with Queenies Southern Restaurant in Canton and Georgia Lawn. He previously attended Due West Elementary, Lost Mountain Middle School, Harrison High School, and was a rising senior at Creekview High School in Cherokee County. He also attended Macland Presbyterian Church and Due West Methodist Church. He was a competitive cheerleader with the Stingrays, and was a competitive gymnast with Paulding Gymnastics.
