Louise Hess Knapp, 72, of Marietta, Georgia, died May 25, 2018. Louise, the only daughter of Jack and Julia Hess, passed away at Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain. She is survived by her only son, Peter C. Knapp, Jr., and his wife, Carrie Ann Knapp, her brother, Jack Hess, and his wife, Carol Hess, of North Fort Myers, Florida, and their children and grandchildren, as well as the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of her predeceased brothers, Henry Hess, and Alistair Barrett (formerly Albert Hess). During her career, Louise was a social worker at the Cobb County Department of Family and Children Services in Marietta and was serving as an Intake Eligibility Investigator at the time of her retirement. Louise was the chair of the welcome committee at the Villas at Kolb Farm, where she wrote the monthly newsletter, and she was a founding member of the Villas’ Polar Bear Club. Louise was a volunteer at Paulding Christmas, Inc., a non-profit community outreach program, and she served as an officer and participant in bowling leagues throughout the Atlanta area. Louise was also a charter member of the informal board of directors’ meetings conducted each Thursday afternoon at Johnnie MacCracken’s Celtic Pub in Marietta. Louise enjoyed a rewarding life and a long and happy retirement. She loved bowling, card games, good food and lively conversation. She was the matriarch and historian of the Hess family, and she will be remembered by her family and friends as a positive, caring, loyal person who demonstrated her love directly through her words and actions. Louise recently wrote that she had no regrets and would not change anything about her life.
