Linda Eileen Butler

Linda Eileen Nault Butler, age 67, of Powder Springs, Georgia passed away January 24, 2024. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Marietta, Georgia.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, Georgia.  Services will follow, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.

The daughter of Mary McCombs Nault Griffith and Frank T. Griffith, she is survived by husband Ron N. Butler, son Neil Logan Butler and his wife Emilee Cox Butler, son Colin Aubrey Butler and Israel Papevies.  Her sister Kathy Ervin lives in St. Paris, OH with her husband Terry Ervin and daughters Mira and Genevieve.  Another sister, Sherry Mason, lives in Terre Haute, IN.

A graduate of Eastern Illinois University, she was a chemist for the Coca-Cola company in Atlanta for more than a quarter-century, until her retirement. She was a member of the American Chemical Society since her college days.

She was an energetic, long-time fundraiser for the Georgia Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation as the captain of the ‘Colin’s Best Friends / Colin’s Commandos’ pledge walk team at the CFF’s annual ‘Great Strides’ fundraiser.  The Georgia CFF estimates that she raised $85,000 for medical research on causes and cures for cystic fibrosis.  At the 2022 Great Strides, the ‘Colin’s Best’ team marched out ahead of all the others, recognizing them as the longest-standing pledge team at the event.

She will be remembered most for her warm heart, her kindness, genuine concern for others, willingness to help and ability to talk with anyone.  She would engage with strangers standing in a line with her and leave them with the feeling they had enjoyed a conversation with a friend they had just never bumped into before.

Remember a brave and beautiful lady.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Atlanta chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  Lin fundraised for CFF for more than thirty years with great energy.  As she said: "If I raise enough money, do I get to keep my son?"  You did it, love.
