Lillian Huffman

July 6, 1961 — March 15, 2025

Marietta, GA

Lillian Elizabeth Graves Huffman, 63, passed away in her sleep, with loved ones present, on Saturday, March 15, 2025, in Marietta, GA.

She was born on July 6, 1961, in Sylacauga, Alabama to John Joel Graves and Elizabeth Clinkscales Graves. She grew up in Sylacauga, Alabama and graduated from Sylacauga High School in 1979. She attended Auburn University and graduated in 1984 with a degree in Landscape Architecture.

Lillian radiated joy and peace her entire life, pouring her love into raising her three children Raymond, Russell, and Emmie with her former husband, Ron Huffman. Lillian showed her caring soul through her love of gardening and being outdoors, spending many hours tending to the flowers and native plants in her yard, and going on hikes with her loving partner in life, Nick Douglas. Before devoting her time to being a homemaker, Lillian maintained a successful career in landscape architecture. While not actively practicing landscape architecture, she maintained her license and stayed current with landscape architecture practices. Lillian was a lifelong learner. She went back to school to earn a GIS certificate at Kennesaw State University and also earned a certificate in native plants from the State Botanical Garden of Georgia at the University of Georgia. She helped countless lives through her second career in risk management with FEMA. Lillian was a friend to the community and the environment, contributing to numerous ecosystem restoration efforts and native plant rescues.

She is survived by her long-time, beloved partner, Nick Douglas; her three children, son Raymond Allen Huffman of Shawnee, OK; son Joel Russell Huffman (Jennifer and soon-to-be grandchild) of Austin, TX; daughter Mary Elizabeth "Emmie" Huffman-Scott (Wade) of Woodstock, GA; sister, Margaret Kinkead of Marietta, GA; brother, Jeff Graves of Opelika, AL; and brother Jim Graves (Shalann) of American Fork, UT.

She was preceded in death by her parents; John Joel Graves and Elizabeth Clinkscales Graves.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 19, at 2:00pm at West Cobb Funeral Home in Marietta, GA. The family will begin receiving family and friends at 12pm.

Lillian will be buried near her parents at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery near Alexander City, AL. on Friday, March 21.
