Lawrence Washington "Larry" Earls, age 89, of Kennesaw, Georgia transitioned to his permanent home on Friday, August 16, 2019. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Pastor Tray Tankersley and Pastor Rob McDowell officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm prior to the ceremony at the funeral home.
Mr. Earls was born on June 16, 1930 in Sumner County, Tennessee to Chester Hobson Earls and Ethel Mae (Templeton) Earls. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Martha Jeanette (Hill) Earls; 2 children, Theresa (Randy) Bennett, Marietta, GA and Paul (Gay) Earls, Kennesaw, GA; brother, William Monroe Earls, Portland, TN; 4 grandchildren, Lauren Bennett, Kathryn Bennett, Madison Earls and Carson Earls; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe Hobson Earls, Nashville, TN and Franklin Earls, Marietta, GA.
Mr. Earls graduated from Tennessee Tech University and was an alumni of Georgia State University. He served in the Finance Corp during the Korean war. He was president of MacMillan Bloedel (USA) Inc. before his retirement. He was a retired CPA having worked for W. W. Stribling Company, as well as being a partner with Peat Marwick Mitchell & Co. He was active in the Lion's Club, the Gideons, The National Association of Accountants, the American Society of CPAs, The Georgia Society of CPAs, the Society of Accountants for Cooperatives, and the American Paper Institute. He continued a tax practice until shortly before his death.
