Lanel Nigel Singleton of Fairburn, GA, passed away unexpectedly on June 4, 2023, at 27 years old. While his family and friends are shocked by his death, they are thankful for his life. Lanel, also known to his friends as “L,” “Turnt,” and “LJ,” but to his mother, he was “Baby Boy Blue.”
His cheerful disposition and likable personality made him magnetic. From wearing cartoon socks, mismatched colored shoestrings, and graphic tees, he was admired for boldly embracing his individuality.
Lanel was actively involved in sports. He participated in soccer, played basketball for the East Marietta and Pope High School Greyhounds, and football for Pope High School Varsity and South Broward Bulldog.
Even though Lanel was the only child of Naneinee, he was never alone. He surrounded himself with loving friends and a large family who he could entertain for hours with animated stories and unique moves on the dance floor. He kept people laughing because he could find humor in mundane life circumstances.
Lanel took on the profession inspired by his childhood mentor and hero - the famous chef, Bobby Flay, and the Earth’s greatest defenders, Goku from Dragon Ball Z. That’s why cooking and security were his call of duty.
Lanel expressed himself through music, from playing the viola to writing lyrics to creatively channeling his deepest feelings during challenging and painful periods. He has always instilled resilience and courage to stand the test of time.
Lanel passionately loved peanut butter, bananas, ramen noodles, grilled chicken salad, and salmon wraps. His favorite recreational activities include hanging out at the beach, spending time with his family, working out at the gym, and playing pool.
Lanel will be missed every day by his mother, Naneinee Dale Ross; his father, Christopher Lanel Singleton; his sister, Sierra Tania Velasquez; his grandmothers, Catherine Ross and Gretchen Singleton; his loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and many, many great friends.
Lanel will be always loved, forever missed and never forgotten!
