Kathleen Browning Flowers, age 86, of Marietta, Georgia passed away Monday, November 8, 2021. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 12, 2021 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Pastor Brian Browning officiating. Interment will follow at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park in Marietta.
A native of Sylva, NC, Mrs. Flowers moved to Cobb County, GA in 1971. After graduating high school in 1954, she went to work in a hosiery plant and a hospital in Franklin, NC. She held several other various jobs before becoming a mom. She worked at Lockheed Martin in Orlando making wiring for military missiles; as a jewelry associate in Atlanta; and her last job was as an office assistant at the Fairbanks, Alaska police department. She loved taking pictures, so she bought a camera as well as a Bell and Howell hand-held Movie Camera. For years she took photos, videos and made photo albums to document her family on vacation while traveling to the mountains and to the beach. She was considered the family historian of her extended family reunions thanks to all of the family photo albums she had completed. She also loved to travel with her friends on girls' trips and her husband whenever she got the chance. She was able to visit many U.S. states as well as many beautiful international trips with her husband's career. When they retired, they enjoyed camping for weeks at a time; going to southern gospel music festivals with her sister's family in NC; reading books; playing group card games and lots of dinner outings with friend groups; but mostly they loved being grandparents. She was well known among friends and family as a wonderful, generous person and for her strong faith in God. She was a longtime member of Macland Baptist Church. She was preceded in death in 2011 by the love of her life who was also her husband of 48 years, Ray Flowers, and also preceded in death by a brother, Kelly Browning.
