Karl James Pfankuch

June 21, 1952 — March 3, 2023

Karl James Pfankuch, Age 70, of Hiram, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on March 3, 2023. Karl was born to parents Robert Charles and Dorothy Jean (McKee) Pfankuch in St. Paul, Minnesota on June 21, 1952.

During Karl's lifetime his family moved several times. At the age of 6 his family moved to Albert Lea, Minnesota where he spent many hours riding bikes, playing in the woods and corn fields, fishing and finding stray cats and bringing them home. In 1963 his family packed up and moved to Kansas City, Missouri. While living there he attended Maple Park Junior High and Oak Park HIgh School. It was at this time that Karl's love of sports began. He played baseball and football up until he graduated from Oak Park HIgh School in 1970. However, that love of sports continued into his adult years as he began playing on a traveling Softball league.

After graduating from High School Karl proudly joined the Army and served his country as a Combat Engineer and an Atomic Demolition Munitions Specialist. Upon finishing his military service, Karl rejoined his family that had moved to Denver, Colorado. Karl started working for W.W. Grainger in 1976 and retired after working 41 years as a highly respected Branch Manager. While working for Grainger, Karl met and married his wife, Terry (Srednick) Harper.

Karl was an active member and a Trustee of Savior of All Lutheran Church in Cartersville, Georgia. At church he was known as Yard Sale Karl, due to his expertise at heading up the yearly church yard sale event. He gladly spent hours keeping the church in good repair, including hours manning the lawn mower to assist his good friend and fellow Trustee, Billy Kappel.

Karl was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Jason Robert Pfankuch.

Karl is survived by his loving wife, Terry (Srednick) (Harper) Pfankuch, stepson, Edward Harper, and beloved cat Maverick. Siblings: Carol (Joel Rutherford) Saltmarsh, James (Diana) Pfankuch, Kaye (Joachim) Schaaf, Glen (Heike) Pfankuch. Niece - Jamie Lynn Trujillo-Pfankuch, Nephews - Chad Robert, Ian James, and Adam Glen Saltmarsh, Christopher Brandon Schaaf, Andrew Glen, Stephan Siegfried and Ryan Kai Pfankuch.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Savior of All Lutheran Church, 35 Indian Trail SE, Cartersville, GA 30120.
