Karen L. Walker, age 55, of Powder Springs, GA passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017. A Memorial Service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, September 10th at Macland Baptist Church with Dr. Harold Fanning officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the ceremony at the church.
Born in Columbus, GA, Karen moved to Powder Springs 17 years ago from Decatur, AL. She graduated from Rhea County High School in Dayton, TN, then obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Jacksonville State University in Alabama. She worked as a Registered Nurse for many years (specializing as a Surgical Operating Nurse) in Alabama, Texas and Georgia. Her career spanned from Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta, Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Floyd Medical Center in Rome, Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, AL, the Atlanta Eye Surgery Center, the school nurse for McEachern High School, and had also managed multiple medical clinics. Karen enjoyed serving in the ministry as a Sunday School Teacher, Conference Speaker, and leading in student and ladies ministries for 30 years.
