Judith Anita Phillips, 67, passed away the evening of October 31 at Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain Hospice in Marietta, GA, from complications arising from her long battle with PSP. She was surrounded by loved ones.
Daughter of Elizabeth (Keaton) Whitehead, Judith was born June 18, 1948 in Maryville, TN, where she graduated from Everett HS and married David E. Phillips. After earning her Bachelor’s from Georgia State University with honors, she worked in several technology companies throughout her career.
Judith was an avid supporter of the arts, and of numerous charitable organizations. She was perhaps proudest of her role as loving mother and adoring grandmother, and devoted herself to family and her always large circles of friends.
Judith is survived by her daughter with David Phillips (who preceded her in death) Michele Phillips, granddaughters Leela and Audrey, sister Jean Huffstetler, spouse Max Oliveres and family, and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be held at her church where she was active in many service roles over the years; St. Catherine’s Episcopal Church, on Saturday Nov. 7 at 1 pm. A reception honoring Judith for the extraordinary woman she was will follow the service in St. Catherine’s Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, it was Judith’s sincere wish for memorial tribute or donations to be made to PSP research through PSP.org. Information at
