Joy Mobley Herring, the bright light that lit my life for the last three decades, passed away at 8:43 PM EDT, at Piedmont Hospital on Tuesday, May 3, 2016.
After a six year battle with Pulmonary Hypertension, in which she showed her courage and fortitude for the world to see, Joy finally succumbed to the disease that had so limited her life in the last few months.
She leaves behind her mother Joyce Mobley, her sister Dena Mobley Hudson, her nephew Brett Hudson, and her nephew and niece-in-law Luke and Alisha Hudson,as well as nieces Jessica Brand, Erica Brand, and Paige Gearheart (nee Herring).
My heart is full of sadness, yes, but also gratitude; gratitude that Joy chose to honor me with more than 24 years of marriage to the most wonderful, engaging, mischievous, and truly beautiful woman I have ever known. For those of you who knew her, be grateful with me for her life, and for the ease of her passing. For those of you who did not have the privilege of knowing her, be sure to hug your spouse, hug your kids; tell them that you love them every day. May your lives and loves be as rewarding as was Joy's and mine.
