Joseph Allen Carter

January 4, 1982 — October 26, 2016

Joseph Allen Carter, 34, of Marietta, Georgia passed away Wednesday, October 26, 2016. Allen was born on January 4, 1982 in Kennstone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia. Welcomed into this world by his Mother Diane, Father Joey and big sister Jennifer. Allen attended school at Milford Elementary, Smitha Middle and Osborne High School.
Allen's first love was being funny, his longest love and ultimate comfort was music. The last song that Allen picked for his wake up alarm was Ray Charles singing Georgia on my Mind. His greatest love was for his son Konner, who shared an enthusiastic devotion to their Atlanta Falcons team and all things football. Konner is only 13 years old, so very young for such a heart breaking loss. Allen and his big sister Jennifer were first and longest best friends, drawing on each other's strengths. Allen liked looking put together when he went out on weekends, seeking out his sister's opinion about what he was wearing, asking do these shoes match, does this shirt match. Allen would say he was going to visit his best friend which could be a little confusing because it seems he considered a lot of people his best friend. Allen loved dogs, while living with his sister, her little dog Charlie would always want to jump on Allen's bed. Allen called him his little nap buddy - something they did often on the weekends. Allen's passion for movies was equal only to his encyclopedia of knowledge of actors and plot of each movie. Allen enjoyed his work as a carpenter, in his last days with us he found joy in spending some of his off time working on various wood working projects. Allen and his father, Joey, loved the outdoors - especially fishing which included frying up the catch of the day and the art of storytelling. When Allen lived in Florida, near his dad, he started whittling; creating some very nice pieces. Allen and his stepbrother, Chris, have always referred to each other as brothers; I believe they bonded at first site and have been lifelong friends.
Allen was survived by his son Konner Evan Albritton, parents Diane McIntosh Pearl, Joey Henry Carter (wife Sandy), sister Jennifer Diane Carter, step brother Chris Bell, uncles Richard and David McIntosh, Bill Barnes (wife Marie), aunts Susan and Linda McIntosh, Christine Burney. Cousins Nathan and Matt McIntosh, Brandy Burney, Heather Stewart and Josh Barnes.
Predeceased by his maternal grandparents Mary Ramsey October 17, 1931-July 13, 2015, Walter McIntosh May 7, 1924-July 8, 1974, paternal grandparents Margaret Barnes June 15, 1921-July 12, 2004, Calvin Carter March 10, 1919-February 27, 2006, step-brother Joshua Andrew Bell, December 29, 1984 - Friday, December 23, 2005.

As Allen's Mom, my favorite saying of his was when he was talking about his son Konner, he would say "just making memories mom." Allen was my only son and youngest child, I love him with all my heart. Allen struggled with life but had the biggest smile and the funniest personality. My heart will always skip a beat for him.
