Johnny Alvin Postell, Sr. age 84, of Powder Springs, Georgia passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 4, 2023 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Rev. Emily Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta.
Born in Andrews, North Carolina, Mr. Postell lived most of his life in the Atlanta and Cobb County areas. He owned and operated Johnny A. Postell Drilling and Blasting for over 40 years. He was a member of Sandy Plains Baptist Church, and loved playing Blue Grass music and working outdoors. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Joan Postell, in 2017.
Survivors include: 4 Children, Joseph Allen Postell, Dallas, GA, Shannon Leigh Postell, Douglasville, GA, Whitney and Sonya Postell, Lawrenceville, GA, and Johnny A. (Jennifer) Postell, Jr., Kennesaw, GA; 5 Siblings, Doug (Carolyn) Postell, Andrews, NC, Sandy (Harry) Moore, Orlando, FL, Butch (Judy) Postell, Andrews, NC, Ginger McClure, Andrews, NC, and Shelby (Nelson) Younce, Murphy, NC; 5 Grandchildren, Lexi, Landon, Caroline, David, and Tyler.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Georgia Pick and Bow Traditional Music School, Inc., a nonprofit organization teaching young people the history and music that (Dad/Johnny) loved so much.
