Johnny Luther Aldridge, age 72, of Marietta, Georgia passed away February 7, 2019. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Rev. Chris Patton officiating. (Visitation will be from 1pm - 2pm on Saturday).
Johnny grew up in Chamblee, Georgia and graduated from Chamblee High School. He received his MBA from Georgia State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. He was also a member of the Key Club Honor Society as well as the Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society. While at Georgia State, Johnny was President of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, as well as a part of the original group that colonized and eventually founded the GSU Chapter.
Johnny was a retired leasing manager for Eastman Kodak and was of the Baptist faith. He lived in Tucker, Georgia as well as Gwinnett County before moving to Cobb County in 1992. He also served honorably in the U.S. Air Force and was an Honor Graduate of his Technical Training at Lowry AFB, CO.
Johnny had many great loves in his life. He was a never wavering and life-long fan of The Georgia Bulldogs, The Atlanta Falcons and anything to do with Elvis Presley. That would include singing, dancing, listening as well as entertaining everyone with his karaoke and impromptu Elvis impersonations.
No love for any of these things, however, was greater than the love he had for his family. He was blessed to share all of this with the love of his life, his wife Frances. They loved to travel as much as they could, especially to the mountains.
He was also a loyal friend, many dating back to his elementary school days and still getting together for lunch once a month. Johnny also volunteered at Wellstar Cobb Hospital, taking time to cheer up patients, making everyone laugh and spreading joy up and down the halls.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Aldridge of Marietta; three children, Christi (Chris) Dukes of Charleston, S.C., Bobby (Stacy) Aldridge of Roswell and Lori (John) Harris of Newnan; step daughter, Renee (Jay) Jones of Crestview, FL. and 7 grandchildren.
