John Melvin Suttles
January 9, 1940 — October 27, 2016
John “Mel” Suttles,76, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016 at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice. A private graveside service will be held Monday, October 31, 2016.
Mel was a native of Atlanta and a long time resident of Austell. Mel retired from Georgia Power after 42 and a half years of service. He was a member of GA Power Ambassadors; The Foxy Golfers and a 53 year season ticket holder for GA Tech.
Survivors include: wife of 51 years Roberta B. Suttles; two daughters: Karen Suttles (Kevin) Williams, Cindy Suttles (Allan) Brake; one brother: Joseph P. (Faye) Suttles; four grandchildren: Emily and Rachel Williams, Abby and Andrew Brake; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm Sunday, October 30, 2016 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta, GA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alexander-Tharpe Fund at GA Tech, 150 Bobby Dodd Way NW, Atlanta, GA 30332.
