John Henry Mitchell was born on April 15, 1925 to the late David and Gracie Mitchell. John lived a full life and at the age of 86, he returned to the Lord, who called him home on August 4, 2011.
During the years of his life, he served in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1946. John was a fun and loving spirit. He loved to laugh and was the master of jokes. He loved to be a part of his family unit. He was a self-employed handyman and could fix anything inside and out. He was excellent at roof repair and passed his skills onto his nephews.
John is preceded in death by his siblings: Charlie Mitchell, Lossie Mitchell, James Mitchell and Bessy Mae Mitchell.
He leaves behind his only Daughter to whom he was devoted, Denise Mizelle, of which he conceived with the late, Viola Mizelle, the only woman he ever loved.
He also leaves to mourn: Granddaughter, Jasheen Mizelle and Grandson, Alonzo Mizelle and three Great Grandchildren: Daijai, Moriah and Kyen; One Brother, Edward Mitchell (Joannie) of Ohio and Two Sisters: Elizabeth York and Essie Mitchell of New York and a host of loving relatives.
Arrangements are entrusted to West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory, Marietta. Private family services will be held.
