Dr. John Louis Mihelich II, age 80 of Powder Springs, GA passed away January 4, 2018. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the West Cobb Funeral Home in Marietta, GA.
John was a native of Cleveland, OH graduating from Benedictine High School and Case Institute of Technology. He received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in engineering and a PhD in metallurgy. He had a successful 40+year career in the metals industry, having been awarded multiple U.S. patents. His work took him all over the world and he loved sharing stories about the places he had been and the people he had met. John especially enjoyed his time working and living in Melbourne, Australia where he formed close friendships and traveled the country with his wife and youngest daughter. After retirement to the Atlanta area, he formed his own consulting company which allowed him the flexibly to travel with his wife and visit family and friends. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
John is survived by his wife of 55 years, Donna, and his five children: Mary (Steve) Aprill of Marietta, GA, John (Ann) Mihelich of Virginia Beach, VA, Michael (Judy) Mihelich of Douglasville, GA, Joseph (Kelly) Mihelich of Folsom, CA and Peggy Mihelich of Washington, DC; and by his nine grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph, mother, Helen, and brother, Joseph, all of whom lived in Cleveland, OH.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the West cobb Funeral Home..
