John Ryland Hicklin III (“Jack”) passed away after a short illness on April 16, 2019 at the age of 65. He was born in Kansas City, MO on January 8, 1954 to parents John Ryland Hicklin, Jr. and Alma Lowe Hicklin. In 1957, his family moved to Columbus, OH and in 1962, to Hempstead, NY. In 1972, the Hicklin family settled in Marietta, GA where Jack attended and graduated from Wheeler High School in 1971. He was active in track throughout his high school years. In 1990, he united in marriage with Robin Wallace, sharing many mutual interests – cars, books, and laughs - and adventures until her passing in 2002.
Jack was a Christian and a US Veteran of the Vietnam War era. A passion for motorcycles was passed to Jack by his parents, and he enjoyed many road trips with the American Legion Riders, friends and family. He was a member of the American Legion and the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and by his beloved wife, Robin. He is survived by his brother in law Joe Wallace and his wife Debbie; a brother Christopher and his former wife Faye, a brother Clayton and his wife Andrea, and a sister Marcia; a niece Taylor and her husband Kyle Carpenter, nephews Chase and Ben; and a grandniece Emma Carpenter.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, May 11 at West Cobb Funeral Home in Marietta, GA. He will be interred at Machpelah Cemetery, Lexington, MO at a later date.
