John Robert Davis, age 95, of Powder Springs, Georgia went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, surrounded by his adoring family.
Born in Palava, Texas and raised in Sweetwater, Texas to Mr. Fletcher Davis and Mrs. Flossie (Shipley) Davis, Mr. Davis was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the post WWII era. He earned a Bachelor’s degree from Hardin-Simmons University and pursued a long and successful career as a Chemical Operator in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Mr. Davis married Lola Vivian (Plott) in 1952 and spent 70 years faithfully loving her and the family they built together. They raised 4 wonderful children in the town of Westlake, Louisiana before moving to Georgia in 1992 to enjoy retirement closer to their growing family. He was a longtime member of Macland Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, cheering on his favorite Atlanta sports teams, family meals and card games, winning a game of dominos, and deepening his unwavering faith by studying the principles of God’s Word.
He was preceded in death by both of his parents, his sister Mrs. Bobbie Davis Null, and many other family members he joyfully anticipated reuniting with in heaven.
Mr. Davis is survived by his beautiful wife Vivian, daughter Janet (Larry) Ratliff, son Clay Davis, daughter Lisa (Randall) Butts, and daughter Laura Moses. He is also survived by granddaughter Lauren (David) Stout, grandson Jonathan (Caitlin) Moses, and granddaughter Claire (Wes) Barton. He was thrilled to meet 4 great-grandchildren before departing this life- Henry Moses, Robert “Everett” Moses, Jane Moses, and Davis Barton.
