John Henry Brady, age 90, of Marietta, Georgia passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, January 1st, 2025. Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 pm on Sunday, January 5, 2025 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Rev. Dallas Cornette, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow on Monday, January 6th at 11am at Kennesaw Memorial Park in Marietta, Georgia. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 5th from 12:30 pm until 2:30 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Brady had an outstanding career in Public Safety which began in the early 1950’s. He began his career in law enforcement working at various agencies over his career. He started his career with the Austell Police Dept, and worked for Cobb County Police, Cartersville Police, Atlanta Police, Union City Police and ended his law enforcement career with the Powder Springs police department where he served as the Chief of police before ending that era and moving over to the Fire Department. After his career with law enforcement, he returned to Cobb County to the Fire Department to serve the citizens of Cobb County for 26 more years when it was made up of Fire districts. He started in the Gritters District after which he served a stint as an investigator in the Fire Marshall’s office, then he returned to the field for some time and later returned to the inspector role from which he retired in 1995. Mr. Brady enjoyed his retirement for 30 years and loved spending time with family on his family farm in Kingston. In his 80’s, he returned to reside in Marietta to be closer to his sisters.
Mr. Brady was preceded in death by both of his parents Lonnie and Eula Brady, his loving wife and mother of his children, Edna Jeanette “Jean” Martin Brady, his brother Richard Brady, his brother Leon Brady, and his beloved sister Hazel Greer and a grandson, Michael McCullers.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Norma Brady of Marietta. Sisters Linda Prather and Jimmie Trulove both of Marietta. His 4 surviving children, Marion McCullers of Forsyth, Georgia. John (Teresa) Brady, of Kingston, Richard (Donna) Brady of Acworth and Chris Brady of Kingston. He is survived by 13 grandchildren Brian McCullers of Forsyth, Cole McCullers of Forsyth, Lindsey (Brian) Mullis of Jackson, Michael Brady of Dallas, Caitlyn (Jake) Wagner of Kingston, Christopher (Andrea)Brady of Acworth, Dillon (Caroline)Brady of Acworth, Hayley (Devon) Shoot of Indiana, Bethany Brady of Buford, Kylie (Jake) Murphy of Canton, Amber Brady of Canton, Natalie Brady of Alabama, Dylan (Catherine) Steed of Acworth and Megan(Adam) Lowe of Canton and many great grandchildren. John loved his family and his family loved him in return. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
Mr Brady was a man of faith and he has now moved on to the after life to look down on all of us that loved him and will miss him dearly. John loved his family, his friends, and his beloved fire department friends and he will be sorely missed by many.
