Joe R. McKelvey

Joe Richard McKelvey, age 89, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away Sunday, July 28, 2019. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Rev. Thomas Grantham and Rev. Keith Collins officiating. Interment will follow at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville.

Born in Chamblee, GA, Mr. McKelvey lived most of his life in Douglas County. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served during the Korean War. He worked as a truck driver for Signal Delivery for 20 years, and was a member of Floyd Road Baptist Church. He loved his dogs, working in the yard, and listening to blue grass gospel music and radio preaching.

Survivors include: wife of 69 years, Liz McKelvey; 2 children, Cindy (Thomas) Grantham, Opelika, AL and Rick (Cherie') McKelvey, Douglasville, GA; grandchildren, Josh (Amy) Grantham, Scott (Dana) Grantham, Seth (Chelsea) McKelvey and Isaac (Lexie) McKelvey; great grandchildren, Juniper Joy McKelvey, Cici Litteral, Kaitlyn Grantham, Callie White, Lyla Grantham and Jackson Grantham; great great grandchild, Skyler Litteral.
