Joann S. Johnson

Joann Shepherd Johnson went to be with her Lord on September 5, 2015. Services will be 11am Tuesday, September 8, 2015 in the Chapel of West Cobb Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Stephens officiating. Interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park. She was born March 11, 1948 in Laurinburg, NC. In 1973, Joann, her husband Billy, and their son Keith moved to the Atlanta area.

Joann was an employed as an Engineer at Bellsouth, and retired after 36 years of service. Joann was an active BellSouth Pioneer.

The family were members of Locust Grove Baptist Church in Smyrna, then after moving to Kennesaw, joined Powder Springs First Baptist, then Mt Calvary Baptist in Marietta. Joann and Billy were very active in all churches.

Joann was predeceased by her parents Bardon and Lessie Shepherd, Her brothers Bardon, William, Mark and her sister Barbara. Joann was also predeceased by her infant son Billy Johnson, Jr.

Joann is survived by her husband of 48 years, Billy Johnson, their son Keith Johnson of Marietta and his wife Mary. Joann has 4 grandchildren, Breanna Johnson who attends Mississippi State, Haylee Johnson, Camden Johnson and William Johnson. All live in Cobb County. She is also survived by her brothers Marion Shepherd of High Point, NC, Richard Shepherd of South Port, NC, and Chalmers Shepherd of Fountain Valley, CA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joann was a committed believer in Jesus Christ and served him well. She very much loved her family, and she will be greatly missed. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, September 7, 2015 from 5pm until 8pm. Online guestbook available at www.westcobbfuneralhome.com .
