Jessica Tarnopilsky

Jessica Tarnopilsky, 84, of Marietta, GA, passed away on June 11, 2024. Jessica led a full and beautiful life. She was born in Montreal, Canada. She graduated from St. George’s College with a teaching degree. She married Walter Tarnopilsky on July 15, 1967. Through Walter’s military career in the Marine Corps, they lived in Monterey, CA, Woodbridge, VA, Cherry Hill, NJ, and North Andover, MA, before retiring in Marietta, GA. While in Virginia, Jessica earned her Master’s degree in Counseling. She later became a realtor and loved meeting new people and helping them in their home search. 

Jessica was active in many groups and charity organizations wherever she lived. She was an integral member of St. Andrew's Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Cumming, GA, serving as treasurer for several years. She enjoyed playing bridge, gardening, cooking, singing, dancing, and hosting dinner parties. Her cheerful spirit and love of talking garnered her many friends. There were no strangers for Jessica, just friends she hadn’t met yet. Her greatest joy and delight were her grandchildren, whom she showered with love, affection, attention, humor, and great food. Her exuberant presence will be missed by many.

Jessica is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Walter Tarnopilsky; her daughter, Larissa Zitzmann of Marietta, GA; her granddaughter, Katarina Zitzmann of Kennesaw, GA; her grandson, Leopold Zitzmann of Kennesaw, GA, and nephews Peter Burega, John Burega, and Stephen Burega. Jessica was preceded in death by her mother, father, and sister, Alice Burega.

Visitation will occur at West Cobb Funeral Home, 2480 Macland Rd, Marietta, GA 30064, on Tuesday, June 18th, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Service will follow at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA, at 1:00 p.m.
