Jerry Slate

Jerry C. Slate Sr., age 79, of Dallas, GA. passed away Monday, September 10, 2018. Funeral Services will be held 2pm Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Macland Baptist Church in Powder Springs. Interment will follow at Powder Springs Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 12, 2018 from 4pm until 7pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory Inc.

Jerry Carl Slate, Sr. was born in Esom Hill, Georgia on August 28, 1939 to James & Rosa Slate, the youngest of eight children. He married Judith Ann Rush of Pekin, Illinois on September 13, 1959 and worked as a clerk for the United States Postal Service until his retirement in 1996. He then labored as a successful real estate agent for many years. By the sovereign grace of God, Jerry became a born-again disciple of Jesus Christ in 1974. He and Judy were charter members of Berean Baptist Church in Hiram, GA where they have been actively involved for more than fifteen years. Jerry fell asleep in Jesus from heart complications on Monday, September 10, 2018 at WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA, having celebrated his 79th birthday a few weeks earlier.
Jerry is survived by Judy, his wife of 59 years, their three children & their spouses: Ken & Rosemarie Norton of Villa Rica, GA; Brian & Melanie Adams of Powder Springs, GA; and Pastor Jerry & Angela Slate, also of Powder Springs.
Jerry is also survived by his 21 grandchildren and their spouses : Jonathan & Nakitta Norton, Daniel & Jessica Norton, Jesse & Bailey Norton, and Elizabeth Norton; Stewart & Bethany Adams, Brad & Rachael Adams, Greg & Brianna Johnson, Blake & Rachel Adams, Ben & Laura Adams, Zach & Regan Adams, Olivia Adams, Hannah Adams, Isaac Adams, Merrick Adams, and Jasmine Adams; Samuel Slate, Luke Slate, Graceann Slate, Jackson Slate, Malachi Slate, and Margaret Slate.
Jerry & Judy also have 16 great grandchildren (and counting): Annabelle, Addison, Bennett, Madelyn, Caiden, Eden, Titus, Tate, Devereaux, Lorien, Jubilee, Aubrey, Afton, Chloe, Hazel, and Kaladin.
