Jerry Rees Pell, from St Petersburg Florida, entered Heaven's gate on February 15, 2023 with his loving family & dog, Oshi, by his side. Jerry was born in Marietta Georgia. He graduated from R L Osborne High School in 1971. Jerry then went on to technical school, where he was recruited by Xerox Corporation. Jerry retired from Xerox in 2016. Jerry was proud to be part of the Roswell Street Baptist Church orchestra where he played at the Southern Baptist Convention. He was a devoted tennis player and winner of a Xerox tournament in 1978. He then used his tennis skills to work with Special Olympic athletes in Georgia & Florida. Jaclyn, Jery's daughter and him played unified partners where they competed in the Dennis Van Dr Meer Special Olympic tennis program.
Jerry is preceded in death by his daughter, Jaclyn Ruth Pell from St Petersburg, FL. His parents, Zeddie and Mildred Pell from Marietta Georgia.
Jerry is survived by his spouse, Judy McBurnett Pell, originally from Rome Georgia. They were blessed with a marriage of 45+ years and two beautiful children. Their daughter Jaclyn passed away in 2021. Their son, Jeffrey Pell is employed by Delta Airlines in Orlando Florida. Jerry leaves behind a sister Lynda Wheeler and her husband Gary, a sister & brother-in-law, Joanne and Roy Thurston all of Marietta. He was proud to have three nieces, two grandnieces and a grandnephew.
There will be a Celebration of Life on March 11th, from 2 to 5pm in Marietta Georgia. Cheatham Hill Community Center, 3702 Earnest W Barrett Pkwy, Marietta, GA 30064.
A celebration for Jerry's Florida family & friends will be held on April 15th from 2-4pm at the Lake Seminole Resort Clubhouse, 10245 110th Ave N, Largo, Florida 33773.
Jerry will be truly missed by all. Donations can be made to Special Olympic of Florida or Cobb County Georgia.
