On October 2, Jerry Lee Baxter passed away unexpectedly at his home in Cedartown, Georgia. He was 81 years old.
Jerry was born on September 21, 1941, in Cave Spring, Georgia, to parents A.C. and Lillie Baxter. His earliest memories involved helping care for the enormous fields and gardens tended by his family. He developed a natural curiosity for woodwork and carpentry, and taught himself the basics of the building industry. After a proud four-year stint in the United States Army, Jerry married, started a family, and began a lifelong career as an independent builder in and around the Marietta area.
Jerry married Patricia (Pat) Welzenbacher in 1990. They enjoyed many wonderful years together, welcoming family and friends into their home for holidays, birthdays, and special occasions. Jerry loved old cars and was known for his constant 'horse trading' to find that perfect '57 Chevy! He enjoyed spending time outside, and in his later years he and Pat moved to Cedartown to live 'out in the country'. Jerry was preceded in death by his beloved wife Pat, and leaves behind his children, stepchildren, and grieving family and friends.
Per his wishes, Jerry was cremated. A military memorial service for Jerry is scheduled for October 25th at 1:30 P.M. at the Georgia National Cemetery, located in Canton, GA
