NOTE: The Mahon Family requests attendees try to dress vibrantly to celebrate Jehan’s lively spirit.
Jehan Janell Mahon burst onto this Earthly scene on May 7, 1978, in Brooklyn, New York as the first daughter of Jon and Gleneth (Judy) Mahon. Early in her years, Jehan exhibited her vivacious, strong, fun-loving, silly, crazy talented, passionate, prideful, artistic characteristics that we all know of her today. She loved and felt harder than most. Her pretty face accompanied her big heart that she wore on her sleeve. A true beauty that spans beyond time itself with a star power that burned brightly throughout this world. Those that crossed paths with our social butterfly were often left with a lasting impression due to her personality, talent, and generous spirit.
Jehan was a believer in God and always knew that her strength came from Him. She would tell anyone that her relationship with God was personal and she enjoyed her conversations with the Lord. She understood that God had a divine plan that needed no explanation and only her willingness to follow.
Jehan interpreted this world through the lens of beauty. Aesthetics, art, drawing, poetry and creative writing, calligraphy, creating ornaments and floral arrangements, furniture design, textile design, interior decorating, and makeup were great loves and interests of Jehan’s along with listening aka blasting 90s R&B music. At all times she wanted to surround herself with eye-catching alluring pieces that radiated intricate opulence. Everything had to be as special as she was. To know her, you know she loved anything but plainness; instead, she crafted a world and home that reflected her artistry, creativity, and attention to detail at every turn.
Along with being a true artist, she was equally a fighter. To behold her beauty, you had to also be acquainted with her mouth. Jehan was a tough cookie. She was the proud maternal granddaughter of Grace, who didn’t hold her tongue for anyone. You could equally get a tongue lashing or something humorous shooting out of her mouth. While her life’s journey took her from Brooklyn, New York to Vancouver, Washington and then to Powder Springs, Georgia, no one could ever forget that she was a New Yorker, and specifically a Brooklyn girl! Loyal to the end. Tough and stubborn as heck. And a grit and fearlessness about her that was hard to match.
On October 18, 1995, Jehan became a mother welcoming her daughter, Anãshah Naeta Franklin and on August 22, 2002, she welcomed her son, Jorden Allen Aubrey. Her two children were blessings to the Mahon family. Jehan’s legacy and lineage will be carried on proudly through Anãshah and Jorden. One fine day in 2014, another fortuitous blessing came into Jehan’s life via a rehomed dog brought to her by Anãshah. She named her new Shih Tzu dog, Bombay Romance, whom she would boldly say that she also gave birth to from her heart along with her human children. Her loveable grandchildren Santaña, Eleña, and Najee, called her Gia. And they knew their glitzy Glam-Ma to give hugs, FaceTime chats, laughter, and could always count on her to marvel at any of their milestones or accomplishments.
Jehan’s memories, family, friends, and art will proudly carry on for her in this realm as she rests. Jehan was preceded in death by her Dad, Jon in October 2019 however she leaves to celebrate her blessed essence by her devoted Mom, Judy; her children Anãshah and Jorden; fiancé Allen; siblings Brent, Sonja, and Deidre; son-in-law Richard and daughter-in-law Leslie; her grandchildren Santaña, Eleña, Najee, and King; her brother-in-law Thomas and sister-in-law Pam; nephews Jaelen and John and nieces Jasmine, Danielle, and Victoria; paternal Grandmother Matrid; uncles Glen, Emmerson, and Keith and aunts Heather, Carnette, Maida, and Cheryl; great uncle Colson and great aunt Olive; many cherished cousins and friends, along with her much loved dog, Bombay who she called Bay and Jorden and Leslie’s dog, Brownie. Other relatives include the Mahon, Franklin, Aubrey, Field, Waithe, Parris, Smith, Brathwaite, Greenidge, and DeSilva families.
While Jehan has momentarily departed us, we have faith that we will reunite at the second Resurrection of our Lord’s return. WE LOVE YOU SO VERY MUCH!
