Jean Angeline Pearson Henderson was the third child born to the late Minnie and Edward Pearson on March 7, 1926 in Wyco, West Virginia. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister, Vernon Pearson, Henry Pearson, and Claudia Dorsey. She departed this life on Friday, September 14, 2012 after an extended illness.
Jean attended school in Langhorne, Pennsylvania and graduated from Langhorne-Middletown High School, in Langhorne. She went to New York City to attend a school for fashion design. After a brief stay, she returned to Langhorne to take a job at the Veteran’s Administration in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her employment included administrative jobs with National Cash Register, Philadelphia Opportunities Industrialization Center (OIC), and Mercer County Community College. Ultimately, she retired from the State of New Jersey, Department of Aviation, as the Executive Assistant to the Director.
Jean loved to sing, play the piano, draw, paint, and sew. Most of all she loved collecting antiques and other collectibles. She was always looking for a flea market with antiques, or a junk store, as she loved rummaging in boxes in search of a treasure. Her spare time was spent attending the Rice’s Antique Market and the Lambertville, New Jersey Antique Market. Her quest for antiques took her to central Pennsylvania and sometimes upstate New York.
On September 5, 1955, she married Alfonzo Henderson. From that union, two children were born, Minette and Lynne. She leaves to cherish her memory her children: Minette (Russell) Kirkman, of Marietta, Georgia and Lynne C. Henderson, of College Park, Georgia; grandchildren: Erik (Nyomi) Ellis, of Jacksonville, Florida and Sean Ellis; great grandchildren: Lanay Robinson, Malik Ellis and Erica Ellis. She also leaves to mourn her passing one brother, C. Woodruff (Granette) Pearson, of Langhorne, Pennsylvania; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
