Janet Maye Kriss, 82, passed away September 15th, 2019. Janet was born March 3rd, 1937 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Maye and Eugene Polliard.
Janet lived an extraordinary life, filled to the brim with love and adventure. On October 27th, 1956, Janet married the love of her life, Warren Clark Kriss. Together they traveled all over the country and had 3 amazing children- David, Wendy, and Douglas. After 63 years of marriage, she leaves them behind, as well as their 7 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Janet has been many things; she was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a cherished grandmother. However, she may be most remembered for her impact on her community. An avid volunteer, Janet poured her heart into serving others. She did this both through her local church, The Lutheran Church of the Nativity, and through her work with the Kiwanis Club. Janet was an active member of the Lost Mountain Kiwanis Club for over 20 years and was the recipient of the prestigious Hixon Award in 2009.
The mark Janet left on her community, through her work and through the kindness she showed to every person she encountered, will ripple for generations to come. The world has lost an amazing person, but those she has impacted will work to fill the absence created with the same spirit and love she showed in life.
Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, September 18th at 4pm at The Lutheran Church of the Nativity: 2450 Clay Road, Austell, GA 30106. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Janet M. Kriss Memorial Fund via The Lutheran Church of the Nativity.
