Janet Ann Duckworth

We are sad to announce the passing of Janet Ann Duckworth (Hildebrandt) of Marietta, GA. She passed peacefully at the age of 87 on February 15, 2023.

Janet was born in North Tonawanda, NY on April 20, 1935. She grew up on their family farm with her parents and 4 brothers and sisters.

At the age of 16, she was swept off her feet by Bob Duckworth. They were married a year later and moved to Columbus, Ohio. Their first son, Kirk, was born shortly afterwards. The navy took them to New Orleans, where they had their second son, Jeff. In 1964, the Navy brought them to Marietta, GA where they remained the rest of their lives.

Janet was a skilled dressmaker and seamstress. She designed and sewed intricate quilts for the Lutheran church for many years. She had an active social life and loved traveling. Her family was most important to her and was thrilled to have 2 great-grandsons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Louise Hildebrandt, her husband Robert "Bob" Duckworth, and her son, Kirk Duckworth.

She is survived by her youngest son, Jeff Duckworth (JJ Kamholtz), grandson Cole Duckworth (Brittany), great-grandsons, Brady and Ryder Duckworth, brother, Karl Hildebrandt (Gloria), granddaughter, Kristin Gay, and granddaughter, Elizabeth Meadows Whitworth. She is also survived by her much-loved fur grandbabies: Bandit, Scout, Cali, Cooper, and Lilly.

The viewing and funeral will be held at West Cobb Funeral Home on Monday, February 20th. The family will receive friends at 10:00 am with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 am.
