James Bennie Stearns

James Bennie Stearns, age 85, of Marietta, Georgia passed away Friday, October 5, 2018. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 13th from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Born in Scottsboro, AL, Mr. Stearns retired as a Supervisor with the United States Postal Service after 30 years of employment. He also worked at Lowes on Dallas Highway for 9 years, loved working in his yard (2 time Yard of the Month Winner!), and playing golf and fishing. He was a member of Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church in Cincinnati, OH where he also served as an usher. Mr. Stearns was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was generous, dependable, and a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Posey and Maybelle Stearns, and siblings, Hazel, John, Grady, Marie, and Charles.

Wife of 31 years: Leola Stearns

Son: James Stearns, Jr.

Step Sons: Aaron Turley, and Steve (Tracey) Turley

Step Daughter: Sharon (Ray) Singer

Grandchildren: Christina, Dorothy, Quentin, Steve, Tiffany and Jordan

Brothers: Howard Stearns, Willie (Martha) Stearns, Posey (Martha) Stearns, Robert Stearns, Preston (Carolyn) Stearns, Lonnie (Michelle) Stearns

Sisters: Margaret (Clyde) Cooper, and Helen Turner

And a host of Nieces, Nephews and Cousins
