James Volley Sheppard Sr.

James Volley Sheppard, Sr., age 80, of Kennesaw, Georgia passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2019. Funeral Services will be held at 2pm on Sunday, January 5, 2020 in the Chapel of West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Tommy Young officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Marietta.

Born in Atlanta, Mr. Sheppard lived in Cobb County for the past 50 years. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He worked for Southeast Gasket in Atlanta for 20 years, then for Auto Zone for 19 years before retirement. He was of the Baptist faith, and enjoyed hunting, playing golf, and coaching little league football and baseball. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sammy and John Dacus, and John Frank Sheppard, and 2 daughters, Debbie Wilson and Sharon Stewart.

Survivors include: Wife of 37 years, Sarah Sheppard; 4 Sons, Bruce (Linda) Clute of Greencastle, IN, James "Dick" (Charlene) Sheppard, Jr. of Auburn, GA, Paul (Terry Jo) Stewart of Lawrenceville, GA and Mike (Deborah) Stewart of Loganville, GA; 4 Daughters, Elaine (Nathan) Taylor of Oxford, GA, Darlene (Nicholas) Zale of Cartersville, GA, Lenora (Sally) Sheppard of Starke, FL and Rosa (Steve) Hutto of Conyers, GA; 26 Grandchildren, 49 Great Grandchildren and 3 Great-Great Grandchildren.
