James Dee "Deacon" Royals Jr.

James Dee "Deacon" Royals, Jr., age 57, of Marietta, Georgia passed away Wednesday, December 12, 2018. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta with Rev. Rodney Hunt officiating. Interment will follow on Monday at 10:30am at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.

A native of Atlanta, Mr. Royals had recently moved to Marietta from Dallas, GA. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, having served for 9 years. He worked as a Technical Supervisor for Legoland Discovery Center in Atlanta for the past 5 years, and was a member of West Ridge Church in Dallas. He also enjoyed playing the guitar in the band 6 Dice, and loved reading and studying history.

Survivors include: Wife of 10 years, Elena Patterson Royals; 3 Children, Sean Royals, Erin Royals and Megan Royals; 4 Step Children, Ashley Patterson, Brittany Patterson, Courtney Patterson and Chad Patterson; Parents, David and Elaine Holtberg; Sister, Jaime Versdate; Grandchildren, Jeremy Harris, Sophia Patterson, Jadis Harris, Patrick Richards, Lochlan Royals, Cavan Smith, Charlie Kazmie, Anya Kazmie and Cian Kearney
