CPO James Elbert Perkins, Jr. age 94, of Kennesaw, Georgia passed away September 3, 2017.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel in Marietta with Dr. T.P. Johnston officiating. Interment will follow at Cheatham Hill Memorial Park in Marietta, Georgia.
Mr. Perkins was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years Zora Perkins.
Mr. Perkins was a native of Jellico, TN and lived in Cobb County, GA since 1961.
He attended Jellico High School in Jellico, TN before joining the United States Navy in 1940 where he served on the USS Yorktown (CV10). He served in the Pacific Theater and retired as a Navy Chief Petty Officer in 1961. After retiring from the Navy he joined Lockheed as a Flight Line Mechanic, retiring in 1985.
He was a past member of Roswell Street Baptist Church and a current member of Calvary Baptist Church in Smyrna. He also loved doing volunteer work with the Meals on Wheels mission, Roswell Street Baptist Church Campers on Mission, The Georgia Baptist Children's Home, carpentry and traveling in RVs.
Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Grand children: Tyler, Austin. Sarah, Rachael, John, Jacob, Olivia, Leah, Daniel, Meagan, Michael, Joseph
Great grand Children: Afton, Virgil, Emma, Chloe, Lydia, Irene, Hazel
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory in Marietta.
