James "Jim" Franklin Hall II

James "Jim" F. Hall, II, passed away on July 22, 2023, surrounded by his family. He was 74. Born the eldest of three children in Morehead, Kentucky in 1949, he joined the Army after school, serving in Vietnam as an Infantry officer and earning the Bronze Star Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Combat Infantry Badge. After returning home, he attended and graduated from the University of Kentucky, followed by marriage to the love of his life, Mary, and beginning a family while working as a banker. After moving to Georgia, he gained his Juris Doctor and Masters in Litigation from Atlanta Law School. Serving as a solo practitioner in the Atlanta area litigating criminal and domestic matters, over the course of the next four decades he was a constant source of advice and debate with family and friends.
Jim attended Smyrna First United Methodist Church over the past 16 years. His belief and faith in Christ were central throughout his life. His hobbies included teaching himself to play guitar, gardening roses, being fascinated by all things astronomy, cutting gemstones, and collecting coins.
Jim was the son of the late Rev. James F. Hall, pastor with the Church of God (Anderson, Indiana). He is survived by his mother Elsie Fraley, stepfather Henry Fraley, sisters Rebecca (Robert) New-Edson and Ann (Mitch) Hall; his wife of 46 years, Mary Hall; children James Hall III, Jillian Boynton, Jennifer Hall, and Tye Boynton; and four grandchildren. He is sorely missed by all of them. A Visitation will be held Saturday, August 5 at West Cobb Funeral Home from 1:00 - 3:00pm with the Funeral Service immediately following.
