James W. Hawes, age 82, of Marietta, Georgia passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024. A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 9am at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
Born in Sterling, CT, Mr. Hawes moved to Cobb County in 1965 from Nashville, TN. He served in the United States Air Force for 4 years, then the Georgia Air National Guard for 22 years, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant with the 116th @ Dobbins and Robbins Air Force Bases. His career included employment at Lockheed, Eastern Airlines, Northwest Airlines, and Omni Air International. Mr. Hawes loved his family and loved his church family where he served as an Elder for many years with Burnt Hickory Church of Christ, and he loved the outdoors.
Survivors include: Wife of 60 years, Patricia Hawes; 2 Sons, Michael (Laura) Hawes, Powder Springs, GA, and Dr. Robert (Melanie) Hawes, Moultrie, GA; 5 Grandchildren, David (Jennifer) Hawes, Seattle, WA, Daniel (Elizabeth) Hawes, Kennesaw, GA, Mitchell (Ivey) Hawes, Athens, GA, Wade (Tori) Hawes, Cartersville, GA, and Bailey (Will) Barber, Hermitage, TN; 4 Great Grandchildren, Levi and Alex Hawes, and Tatum and Jacob Hawes.
