James H. Garwood

James H. Garwood, age 73, of Marietta, GA passed away on Friday, July 31, 2015. Graveside Service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at 12:00 pm with Rev. Bill Rorie officiating. Interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Marietta, GA. James was preceded in death by his daughter Kim Garwood and his parents: Shirley and Emma Jane Garwood.

James was a native of Waynesville, N.C. and had lived in Marietta since 1976. James was a musician and studied to become a Band Director before going into the Navy where he was a member of the Naval Band. He played in the Macon Symphony, loved playing the upright bass for Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Marietta, GA. He loved spending time with his family and going camping in the Georgia State Parks. James attended Macland Presbyterian Church the last few years of his life.

Survivors include: his wife of 52 years: Margaret J. Garwood of Marietta, GA; three daughters and son-in-laws: Sonya and Robert Harris of Athens, GA, Tammy and Zane Aycock of Woodstock, GA, Sheila and Judson Burton of Snellville, GA; brother: Bill Garwood of TN; sister: Mary Jo Crowley of NC; four grandchildren; four nephews and one niece.
