James "Jim" Aubrey Gallman, Sr., 90, of Marietta, GA passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 29, 2023, at Kennestone Hospital.
Jim was born in Inman, SC on June 20th, 1933 to Mildred Lee (Ladson) Gallman and Samuel Thurston Gallman. He graduated from Inman High School in 1951 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Entomology from Clemson University in 1955, later becoming an entomologist for the FDA. He also served in the US Army as a 1st Lieutenant.
Jim was known for his witty sense of humor and his love of whistling. He also enjoyed fly fishing, cooking, and woodworking.
Jim is survived by his two sons, Jay Gallman (Renee Weaver) and Mark Gallman (Gwen Dever); his two daughters, Jennifer Gallman and Susanna Gallman Jones (Brian); and four grandchildren: Sara, Ryan, Lily, and Evan Jones. He was preceded in death by his parents; his half-brother Harold Foster; his half-sister, Sara Foster Berry; his first wife, Sara Rafferty Gallman; and his second wife, Ann Rich Gallman.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
